The original recordings go back to Smokehouse Studios, London, August 2016, where voice and guitar were cut live to tape. What followed was a slow build across three countries over nearly a decade: drums in Wróblowice, Poland; piano in Chelmsford; guitars and bass back in Finsbury Park; final overdubs in Borgo Passera, Italy. Mixed and mastered by Req, 2026. Available on digital, vinyl, CD and cassette.

About  AL.MA.RE

It all started in the unlikeliest of places – a print shop and an Italian café on Clapham High Street, sometime around 2011. Maciek, working the press, would wander across the road for a proper Italian coffee, served up by Alessia at Osteria dell’Arte. One casual conversation led to a jam session, and before long the two were tucked away in a Clapham flat-share – just a guitar, a few beers, and borrowed melodies.

Taking to North London’s open mic circuit, they started out as The Breakers, running through sets of Alanis Morissette, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Adele and Leonard Cohen. Then Alessia’s own songs started taking over.

They moved to Camden Town next – a flat above a key-cutting shop, the same place Pete Doherty had once lived, where his old mates would still occasionally show up at the door. Nights were spent gigging at Jazz After Dark in Soho, the same smoky room where a young Amy Winehouse had found her footing.

In August 2016 they went into Smokehouse Studios and cut what would become The Breakers EP – live to tape. The record came out in 2018 under a new name: AL.MA.RE. The Breakers felt too common, so they made it their title instead.

The 2026 album builds on the foundation of the 2018 EP – adding new keys and guitar overdubs, a warmer and more organic mix, and four new songs added to the tracklist – physical editions (vinyl, CD, cassette) and digital carry two exclusive tracks.

AL.MA.RE are Alessia Bocconi (voice) and Maciek Rek (guitars, bass, keys). Live, they’re joined by drummer Luca LuziThe Breakers album features Jarek Dudrak on drums and percussion.

AL.MA.RE are now based in Senigallia, on the Adriatic coast of Marche, Italy.
